Anguilla, known as the jewel of the British West Indies, could be considered a paradise for divers, boasting as it does 33 of some of the best white sand beaches in the world with clear turquoise waters ideal for diving. Whatever your level, there'll be something for you in Anguilla. For the open-water diver, there are plenty of wrecks, heritage caves and walls. For the snorkeller, visit one of the seven purpose-built marine parks situated off the beaches.
It's also possible to charter a boat for a more secluded snorkelling trip. Anguilla has a healthy dolphin population, and there are opportunities to swim with them. Wahoo, Marlin, Swordfish, Yellow fin and Black fin Tuna are also found off Anguilla's shores. There are also over 120 species of birds on the island, many of which are found in Anguilla's own tiny rainforest. If you need a rest from diving, Anguilla offers wonderful facilities for parasailing, paddleboating and windsurfing. Or for a more laid-back approach, take a glassbottomed boat and see the marine life that way.
