For some of the strangest and most beautiful terrain and
sealife on the face of the planet, head to the Far East for your scuba experience.
The Far east is a must do destination for every self respecting gap year or career break traveler as well as honeymooners from all over the world and as the dive resorts have grown up to support them so it has made the possibilities for diving excellent whether for those wishing to learn or for the more advanced.
The Far east, which includes the Maldives, Thailand, Malaysia and the thousands of Islands that make up Indonesia and the Philippines, has a wealth of dive resorts and companies touting for business and those who scuba dive here will not be disappointed.
Although climatic changes have affected the reefs around Thailand, the dive sites around Phuket and the Similan islands still offer a remarkable diving experience with the chance of seeing whitetip sharks, rays, snappers and turtles.
The Philippines was regarded as a world class coral area however cyanide and dynamite fishing have caused extensive damage to some reefs, and as with Thailand climatic changes have also caused damage to coral.
Indonesia has almost a quarter of the world's coral reefs, many of them rarely, if ever, scuba dived so you will find an unspoilt paradise of coral and marine life wherever you decide to venture.
The whole region is an exceptional area for diving it is a shame that some of the reefs have been damaged by careless fishing in the past but there area still many areas of outstanding beauty and diversity to be scuba dived.
