In Mexico the scuba diver is spoiled for choice - both the Caribbean and the Pacific oceans offer great dives,

Mexico offers a mixture of desert, rainforest and tropical
corals regions. The country's tourist industry
is well-developed hotels that cater perfectly for westerners,
and Mexicans, alike. The country is a mixture of ancient
and modern with Mayan remains and high tech buildings
within walking distance of each other. The diving is
equally good on the Caribbean and Pacific sides.
Diving Description
On the Pacific coast of Mexico you can find an expanse
of water - known as the Sea of Cortez - between the Peninsular
of California and the mainland that boasts the most prolific
marine life on Earth. The Caribbean coast offers a number
of dive destinations. The Northeast corner of the Yucatan
Peninsular is a favoured tourist resort for the US however
it is also popular with Brits for diving. Cancun is a man-made
island, 14 miles long and a quarter of a mile wide, which
is a resort for rich Mexicans and Americans. The island,
which is connected to the mainland via a causeway, is considered
to be the Miami Beach of Mexico. It boasts dive shops,
hotels and other tourist amenities. The offshore islands
of Cozumel and Isha Mujeres are other favoured destinations.
Cozumel only has one town, San Miguel, but it gets the
greatest amount of dive tourism. Indeed diving is the main
source of income for the island with over 120 dive outlets.

areas still unexplored The life here includes tropical
fish, huge shoals of pelagics, whalesharks, Californian
scallions, manta rays and hammerhead sharks.
Cancun
Cancun's diving promises gentle slopes with a varied
marine life to prosper. There are possible shark encounters; black

The largest reef system, The Tunnel offers an impressive
swim through, with shoals of snapper and jacks common to
the area.
Cozumel and Isha Mujere
Much of the west coast of Cozumel has been designated a
marine park since 1980 and tends to be a mixture of classic
Caribbean reefs and walls with large sponges, seafans,
brain corals and patches of lettuce leaf algae. Fish are
also large and plentiful.
