Scuba Diving Holidays In Israel |
The wonders of the Red Sea are yours for the exploring.
Country Description
Despite, and more likely because of that fact that it is considered to be a Holy Land by Christians, Jews and Muslims alike, Israel is a land of troubles. It was designated a Jewish state in 1948 but the land had previously been a part of the British mandate for Palestine. There has been conflict here ever since.
However it is possible to discover a side to Israel that is free from the troubles. Once the home of the package dive holiday (which fell out of favour as other destinations opened up), Eilat on the southern tip represents Israel's foothold on the Red Sea. It is also the location for numerous dive centres. The African Rift Valley dominates the entire East Coast of the country. It is this Valley that created the Red Sea and as a result Israel borders the sea for a distance of seven miles.

Diving Description
Eilat had been left for dead by the dive industry when Egyptian dive holidays took off. However the Israelis fought back with dogged determination to retain a share of the Red Sea dive action. Most of the dives are shore based so Israel tends to be cheaper than Egypt.

Dolphin Reef
The Dolphin Reef project gives the chance for divers to interact with dolphins in open water (or in a 10,000 square meter enclosure). Although the dolphins aren't exactly wild, they are also not in captivity as the gates to the enclosure are regularly opened. However, the freely available food keeps them there.
Japanese Gardens and Moses Rock
If swimming with almost tamed dolphins isn't your thing, then you could opt for a real dive! These two locations are the better known in Eilat and therefore over dived, which has resulted in the fish becoming used to the divers.
The Sufa Missile Boat
This is a purposefully sank boat which has become a popular dove attraction. There is also a small aluminium gunboat that lies close to the Aquasport Diving Centre.
Other info
The diving facilities here are very good offering a range of services and being well equipped.
