Scuba Diving Holidays In Spain

The Balearic, Canary and Medas islands give Spain a wonderful diving pedigree, where you can enjoy the experience of both Mediterranean and North African dives.
Country Description

The three main diving destinations on Span are the Balearic Islands of Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza; the Canary Islands of Lanzarote, Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura; and the Medas Islands off Costa Brava. The Medas Islands and The Balearics are in the Mediterranean while the Canaries are in the Atlantic off the West Coast of Africa. All are popular holiday destinations and offer excellent facilities for divers and non-divers alike.

Diving Description

Menorca is considered to be the jewel in the Mediterranean for divers. The islands boasts a large number of caves and caves and also features numerous sheltered coves. Majorca and Ibiza are as good, but they are far more densely populated. All promise good visibility, a selection of reefs, wrecks and walls and a large variety of marine life.

One of the few marine reserves in the Mediterranean, the Medas Islands promises a profusion of sea life.

Diving in the Canaries differs due to its geographical location. Another haven for divers the region boasts a mixture of outstanding marine life, archaeological sites, great opportunities for underwater photography and some brilliant wrecks. Like the islands themselves, the underwater topography is volcanic which results in some stunning tunnels, caves, swim0throughs and even sheer walls. The islands may be set on the Atlantic, with the rich variety of fish this ocean promises, but it is also home to a number of Caribbean and Mediterranean species. So the variety of marine life is unsurpassed. Don't be surprised to encounter cuttlefish, anemones, manta rays, grouper and angel sharks. The region also boast numerous wrecks to explore, making The Canaries a great destination for divers.

The Medas Islands?

A marine reserve, the Medas Islands are reported to be as close as you can get to how diving was before the onset of dive tourism. The marine life is rich and varies while fish swarm everywhere. It is a divers paradise.

The Old Harbour Wall in Lanzarote

A must-do night dive that promises an unforgettable experience.
Stingray and Eagle-Ray feeding in Tenerife, operators offer these special trips where the rays are hand fed. It is considered to be on a par with Stingray City in the Cayman Islands.

Fuerteventura

The quietest of the Canary Islands and therefore the best for diving. At least one site it is possible to swim with large grouper.
